Bone health is a major determinant of our overall wellness and longevity. In contrast, bone disease is often associated with other major disorders like diabetes, muscle weakness and certain neurological conditions. Skeletal fractures, such as from falls, can be a serious and life-threatening injury in some people, particularly if your bones are fragile due to osteoporosis. In this series of blog posts, we will discuss some key concepts about how your skeleton maintains itself and contributes to your overall health, how your doctor can assess your bone health, as well as how diet, exercise and certain medications affect your skeleton.
