Stand Tall: Take the Flamingo Challenge for Better Balance!

There are three main systems in our body that help keep us balanced:

  • Our visual system (eyes)

  • Our sensory system (feet, joints, and skin)

  • Our vestibular system (inner ears)

The vestibular system, located in the inner ear, contains fluid and tiny crystals that help our brain sense movement and position. When this system isn’t working properly, it can cause dizziness, unsteadiness, and increase the risk of falls.

More than one-third of adults over age 40 have experienced some form of vestibular dysfunction. These disorders can be hard to diagnose, and many people see 4–5 doctors before finding out what’s really going on.

To raise awareness, the Vestibular Disorders Association (VeDA) created Balance Awareness Week. This week is all about helping patients speak up for themselves and encouraging healthcare providers to recognize the signs of vestibular issues sooner—leading to better, faster care.

What is the Flamingo Challenge?

The Flamingo Balance Challenge is a fun way to raise awareness about balance and vestibular health. The challenge is simple: stand on one leg—just like a flamingo!

Try to stay balanced for as long as you can without using your hands. Some people make it extra fun by doing it in creative places, during yoga, or while dancing!

Research shows that being able to stand on one leg for at least 10 seconds is linked to better overall health and a lower risk of falling.

Give It a Try!

We encourage everyone to practice balancing on one leg. This activity helps improve:

✅ Leg strength

✅ Coordination

✅ Balance

✅ Fall prevention

If balancing without help feels too hard, start with one hand on a counter or chair.

As you get stronger, try using just your fingertips, and then no hands at all. Practice makes progress!

Ready? Steady? Go!

My husband has Parkinson’s disease, adding PD-5 to his nighttime Parkinson’s meds has completely changed his sleep issues. He slept all day and up all night, we had to hire care nurses. Now using this PD-5 medicine for the last four months and a normal routine he sleeps almost completely through the night and may get up once to use the restroom. It’s improved so much we were able to let go of the night nurses. This medicine also helps a ton with memory. we got the treatment from www. limitlesshealthcenter.com I am absolutely confident that this program offers a viable solution. it’s not a cure all but it does work, I hope someone find this helpful, We feel very…
